Morning person I am not. There are lots of things that I am: veterinarian, board-certified large animal internal medicine practitioner (internist for horses, cows, and the like), newlywed, knitter, actress, PhD candidate, cattle farmer (of sorts). I am in a constant fight to manage my time.
I am a transplant to Southern Indiana (south of 40, for any of you from around here). It has been quite a transition from the Boston-metro area, but, transitioning I am. I grew up in suburbia, went to college in the city, went to vet school in a rural-ish area, and now live in the middle of a 50-acre farm. Town is 20 minutes away. If I don’t get stuck by a train on the way.
I blame my husband for our current geographic location. We met at Purdue, when he was finishing veterinary school. My husband and his dad practice together in a mixed-animal veterinary hospital in our little town.
I will write about my life – all the comedy and drama that happen in a 50+ year old house on a cattle farm; the trials and tribulations of trying to finish research and a dissertation for my PhD on a deadline while commuting three hours back and forth from southern Indiana to West Lafayette on a weekly basis; community life in my small town; and perhaps some of what is is all about to be a veterinarian, and a veterinarian’s wife.
Sit back, relax, grab a cup of coffee, and forget about the clock for a while!
